COMMUNITY Affairs

Kinnear Financial community investment program provides funding for community partners in the areas of education, health, leadership development, significant community needs, youth and sports. We provide meaningful support to organizations that develop life-long skills, including character development, leadership training and mentoring of the attitudes and values of sportsmanship, honesty, fair play and hard work.

Here is an overview of some of the major partnerships that Kinnear Financial is involved with:

The Banff Centre and the Kinnear Centre for Innovation and Creativity
As a globally respected arts, cultural, educational and leadership development facility, The Banff Centre provides training, education and skills and leadership development to artists and mid- to senior level leaders and decision-makers in their fields. In 2007, Kinnear Financial founder James S. Kinnear and the Friends of Jim Kinnear announced a $10 million contribution to build this new, state-of-the-art leadership development and educational facility.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award
In 2005 Kinnear Financial founder James S. Kinnear became a founding partner of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Charter for business assisting them to expand their efforts with at risk youth in Alberta and across Canada. In June of 2009 at the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award Ceremony, Jim took the award program to the next level. During the ceremony it was announced Jim had made the largest single donation in the history of the program in Canada, by pledging $2.5 million and becoming the first National Benefactor.

In addition to these major corporate partnerships, we invest significant funds in local or community not-for-profit groups.
